Vote For Holly Slone

My Bio

For twenty-two years, I have called Hurstbourne Acres my home, and it is the place where I raised my family. My journey into local service started when I couldn't get a response from our city council about a neighborhood issue. I decided to show up at a meeting, which opened my eyes to how much we need more community participation. Two months later, I stepped in to replace a commissioner who had fallen ill. After serving on the board for the past two and a half years, I am running for Mayor. I want to ensure our community has a leader who shows up at local events, responds to you in a timely manner, and brings true transparency and accountability to every decision we make.

My Key Issues

Community

Our neighborhood is an incredible place, and as we consistently welcome new families, we have a wonderful opportunity to adapt and grow together. Now more than ever, it is vital that we truly know and can rely on our neighbors. That is why, as your commissioner, I focused on bringing us closer by launching several new events this past year, including our newly improved Christmas party and the Hurstbourne Hop. These events succeeded in getting us out, active, and socializing with one another. I have even more plans to bring new events to our city, and I look forward to continuing this work to build a stronger, more connected community for all of us.

Transparency

Since stepping into my role as commissioner, I have been frustrated by the lack of accurate reporting on the issues and discussions at our meetings. We all lead busy lives, and I know many of you simply don't have the opportunity to attend our monthly meetings in person. When you can't make it, you should still be able to find out exactly what happened, but right now, our community is forced to rely on information that is not always accurate. I want to change that. To me, honesty and transparency are not luxuries—they are absolute necessities. I will fight to make sure you always have clear, reliable, and honest updates on the decisions affecting our lives.

Accountability

We all know that making mistakes is just part of being human. But when those same mistakes happen over and over again with no real ownership or accountability, that is where I draw the line. It is simply not acceptable. Our neighborhood deserves a leader who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves, work hard, and actually solve our most difficult problems. If you elect me, I promise to bring real accountability to this role. That means having the courage to hold the right people responsible when things go wrong, and it means holding myself accountable first and foremost. I am ready to do the hard work, take true ownership of the results, and deliver the honest leadership our community deserves.

Show Up

Over the past two and a half years serving on our city commission, I have made a simple but vital promise to this community: to show up. For me, showing up means being there for the moments that matter. I have consistently attended our community events, rolled up my sleeves, and helped plan and organize them. When it comes to our official meetings, I have made them a priority, only ever missing them due to major work conflicts or illness. Simply put, I care deeply about this community, and I want to be an active part of it. My commitment to you is straightforward: I am going to keep showing up.
